WHY WE SEEK SPONSORS
A decline in law school enrollment has drastically decreased CSLR’s funding from Cleveland State University in recent years. As a result, CSLR members fund a majority of the organization’s operations. After enduring a highly competitive competition to make the journal, each student is required to pay $100 in annual dues simply to be a part of the organization. These dues, which students often pay using student loans, are in addition to the countless hours the students spend working for the organization by editing and revising articles and helping with fundraising and events.
HOW SPONSORSHIP FUNDS WILL HELP
Many law journals around the country do not require their members to pay any fee to join. CSLR seeks sponsors for the 2019-2020 school year to ensure members can develop the skills necessary to be successful in the legal field by immersing themselves in scholarship and fostering relationships with past and present members without membership adding to a member’s economic burden.
In addition to helping reduce each student’s annual fee, CSLR will utilize sponsorship funds in a variety of ways to improve the organization overall. Additional funding will allow CSLR to acquire new technology, plan more events to connect students with CSLR alumni, renovate a workspace that is more than 30 years overdue, and retain more influential authors for publication.
